SAI BABA
Long time ago, at the beginning of eighteenth century a young bearded man with sparkling eyes took shelter in a mosque, in Shirdi Village (of Maharshtra State, In India) . Nobody knew from where this stranger had come who hardly spoke a word and stayed there.Gradually the curious villagers started offering food to the man, but he never asked anything from them. Sometimes he shared his food with the animals. Soon the young fakir, as he was started to be addressed, started expressing his view points with few elderly villagers. His simple language of expresssion and his special power of solving the problems of poor needy and destitutes soon made this less known fakir, known as Shri Sai Baba. As the days passed, devotees started streaming into Shirdi in ever growing numbers. The village was fast becoming a centre of pilgrimage. As gifts and presentations flowed in, the pomp and ceremony of Sai worship were evolving. Everyday Sai Baba would be a pauper having distributed all among the needy and the poor. But Sai Baba's life of a Fakir remained calm, undisturbed, unaltered and therein is the saint's Spiritual glory.

The distance between Mumbai to shirdi is approx 260 kms.Mumbai airport is also the closest international airport to reach shirdi. So Sai devotees who wish to come to india especially for shirdi darshan can come to mumbai and then take a Bus ,taxi ,train or a flight to shirdi.The nearest airport to shirdi used to be, Aurangabad ( 126 kms ) but very recently major steps have been taken to have the airport close to the Samadhi mandir .The airport is scheduled to come up at Kakadi village, around 15 kilometres from
Shirdi in Ahmednagar district. But As for now ,most devotees who travel from abroad have to reach Mumbai airport first. And then take a flight to Shirdi. You can also go to shirdi from Pune . The only airlink to the holy city is a Jagson Airlines 26-seater helicopter service that connects Mumbai and Shirdi with a daily service. Make sure you book ur air ticket in advance by going to

Nearest airports are Mumbai (260 km), Pune (185 km), and Aurangabad (125 km). Flights for all the major cities in India and abroad can be taken from Mumbai. The nearest railway station is Manmad (60 km) on the Central Railway, which is connected to many parts of the country with express trains. Most of the trains touching Nasik Road railway station also touch Manmad. Shirdi has railway reservation office for trains from Manmad. Taxis and buses are easily available at Manmad railway station for transfer to Shirdi. Regular taxi service also operates between Manmad railway station and bus stand. State Transport Corporation and private operators run coaches to Shirdi from Mumbai.
Shirdi is located approximately 296 Kilometers from Mumbai (Bombay) City in India. The nearest railway station is Kopargaon 15 kilometers on Manmad-Daund section of Central Railways.
First, you have to travel to India. (Check with the Office of Consulate General of India in your region for visa and travel requirements.). You could either go by Sea or by Air. Presuming that you want to go by Air, the first choice of landing airport should be Mumbai (Bombay) . Alternatively you could land in any other city which has an international airport.
